Overview
Mt Meru is mostly inside Arusha National Park in Tanzania. It is a 4,566 m / 14,980 ft ASL peak with approximately 3,170 m / 10,400 ft of prominence. Current routes are NON technical but the last stages on route to the summit involve some scrambling. As a peak it comes highly recommended as a doable trek for any one fit and determined.
You can do multi day treks on Mt Meru or even day trips for short hikes or extended hikes up to 4 hours.
PLEASE NOTE: hiking Mt Meru requires ARMED RANGERS as per park policy for protection against wild animals. due to the lack of enough rangers this means for the climbs you have to SHARE RANGERS. Whilst we have tried to book private rangers they simply cannot be guaranteed and will not be available in the high seasons. This means that for the first 2 days guests are often told to walk in larger groups with the ranger in the front which often frustrates guests that expected a privately guided hike. All of our trips are privately guided with our great A-Team of guides and crew, nevertheless we can’t get around this issue. You have been advised!
