For those wanting to set foot on Kilimanjaro, see the verdant afro montane forest and birds, then this a great trek!

DESCRIPTION

Starting at Marangu gate (out and back) the trek heads up the first day of the Marangu route, for the very active as far as Marangu hut (and even Maundi crater if one arrives early enough at the start), and is mostly in the forest. For those wanting more open habitat please consider the SHIRA day hike.

ITINERARY

Early in the morning, normally around 6am, you are collected from your hotel with a packed lunch and transferred to Kilimanjaro National Park. Formalities are completed at Marangu Gate hiking up the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro. The distance and length of hike entirely depends on your fitness and time of arrival and hence transfer time at the end of the trip back to your accommodation.
